Although it took us a bit of wandering around lost to figure it out, our Prague hotel was truly in the heart of Prague.  The Hotel Metamorphis opened onto the Ungelt, a protected area that had been used to store merchant goods.  Narrow passages along Tyn Church led us quickly into Old Town Square, a quick 2-3 minute walk from our hotel.  In the other direction, my parents' room looked out onto St. James Church, a large baroque-style church.

The Hotel Metamorphis spread across two buildings in the Ungelt.  Our building opened onto a courtyard and was above an Italian restaurant.  Each room was unique.

The K&K Opera House hotel was equally well-situated in the heart of the city.  We stayed in Pest, this time right between the Budapest Opera House and St. Stephen's Cathedral.  We were a block from the Millennium line of the subway and a ten minute walk from Elizabeth Square, a popular park.  The hotel location made it easy for us to navigate Budapest alone or with our group, walking or taking the subway to all of our destinations.

Our hotel here was sleek and modern.  Although the rooms were small, there was plenty of storage and we were certainly comfortable.

Our hotel is the building with all the flags.  The Opera House is at the end of the street, and St. Stephen's Cathedral is about a block the opposite direction.  Great location!

After stowing our luggage early Saturday morning, we set out for the Astronomical Clock...the wrong way.  After a few wrong turns and at least 20 minutes of walking, we finally made it.  After exploring the square, we realized our hotel was a quick two-minute walk through this narrow alley.  Oops!

At the Metamorphis Hotel in Prague, we had a great view from the courtyard of St. Jacob's Church.
